for The British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology
2008 Annual Meeting
on
14th - 16th July, 2008
at
Burleigh Court International Conference Centre,
Loughborough, Leicestershire, UK
The BSACI Meetings Committee are now accepting abstracts that represent important scientific and clinical research advances. As well as the Basic Sciences and Clinical categories, there is also a new category for abstracts relating to Paediatrics.
If accepted, your poster will be displayed throughout the duration of the meeting and be available for viewing during an unopposed session on each of the first 2 days of the meeting. You should also be prepared to give a 2-3 minute oral presentation to senior members of the BSACI and delegates during these sessions.
The poster presentations will take place over two days. On Monday all scientific posters will be presented, followed by the clinical posters (adult and paediatric) on Tuesday. After the presentations, a committee of senior members will make a judgment on the best poster in each of the 3 categories. The three winners will then be asked to make a 5 minute presentation about their work to delegates at the conference on Tuesday at 5pm. The winners will each be presented with the Barry Kay Award 2008 which will be delivered in the form of a scroll together with a cheque for £200.
Publication of Abstracts
All accepted abstracts will be printed in the conference programme which will be distributed during the conference and later considered for publication in Clinical & Experimental Allergy.
Abstract should be submitted as a Word document by email to info@bsaci.org. Please conform to the format detailed below. Please state which category you wish the abstract to be considered in: Basic Science, Clinical or Paediatrics. In recognition of the crossover between disciplines, you may request that your abstract is considered for the Barry Kay award in 2 categories (Basic Science/Paediatrics or Clinical/Paediatrics). You will receive e-mail confirmation of submission within 1-2 days.
Deadline
Your abstract must reach the BSACI by Friday May 9th.
When submitting an abstract please follow the guidelines below, otherwise your abstract may not be accepted.
The abstract should be laid out as follows:
Abstract Title (in block capitals)
Author(s)
Institute/Organisation, Town & Country
To contain a maximum of 250 words (excluding title, authors and institutional details)
Text should be Times New Roman, 12 Point.
Written (and presented) in English
In order to ensure that the abstracts are as informative as possible, please include a brief statement of the purpose of the study, the methods used and the results followed by conclusions. You may subtitle paragraphs in bold format in the following order: Background, Method, Results and Conclusion. Non-proprietary drug names should be used. Results should not be presented in table form in the abstract itself.
Abstracts related to work that has already been presented at other meetings would be acceptable as long as there has been significant progress made in the work and that there are new findings to report on.
If accepted all posters should be printed in a landscape format and up to 2x1m.
Acknowledgement of abstract
