As part of Clinical and Experimental Allergy continuing efforts to support both its authors and reviewers, the journal is about to adopt a Web-based submission and peer-review system, Manuscript Central. Authors are able to submit manuscripts online at http://cea.manuscriptcentral.com/. The main objective with online submission and peer review is to reduce the time taken to reach a decision on a manuscript and thus ensure rapid publication.
The system is easy to use and the submission and review processes easy to follow. Most authors will already be familiar with preparing their manuscripts using a word processor and creating figures electronically. There is no additional preparation beyond having files in an electronic format. Text can be submitted as Microsoft Word. Graphics can be either embedded in the word processor document or uploaded separately as JPEG, GIF, Microsoft Excel and Power Point files. Authors no longer need to post their submission to the Editorial Office. A completed submission is confirmed immediately by email, and papers will enter the editorial process with no postal delays. Authors can also return to the site at any time to tract the progress of their submission through the peer-review process. Decisions are notified immediately via email, along with review and Editor comments. Revisions are submitted online, along with responses to reviewers and the Editor. Again, confirmation is immediate and revised papers are available to the Editor from the moment they are submitted.
The manuscript will be sent to two reviewers, who will be invited to review papers by email. For those who accept, the manuscript will be made available at http://cea.manuscriptcentral.com/. Reports are completed online and comments can be typed, uploaded or copied and pasted from a word processor. The moment a report is submitted it is available to the Editor, so decisions can be made in the quickest possible time.
