The Paediatric Allergy service at the Lister Hospital was established in 2008.

Dr. Lyn Ventilacion is the Clinical Service Lead. The Paediatric Allergy Service at the Lister Hospital is run and supported by two Consultant Paediatricians, an Associate Specialist in Paediatrics with special interest in paediatric allergy, a GP also with special interest in Paediatric allergy, a Paediatric Allergy Nurse and a Community Dietitian, all of whom are trained and experienced in the management of Paediatric Allergic disorders. The service runs weekly paediatric allergy clinics and dietetic clinics. It provides regular training for primary healthcare colleagues in East and North Hertfordshire and secondary care colleagues at Lister Hospital.

The Paediatric Allergy Service at the Lister offers skin prick testing, specific IgE testing, spirometry, oral food challenges, as well as patient and parental education on management of common allergic conditions, including appropriate administration of medications.

The Service is supported on-site by ENT, Ophthalmology, Respiratory, and Dermatology Teams, as well as a Consultant Paediatrician with special interest in Gastroenterology. It has a streamlined referral pathway with the Tertiary Paediatric Allergy Team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital and Tertiary Dermatology Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
