Leaving a Legacy to BSACI - BSACI

Leaving a Legacy to BSACI

How you can help?

The BSACI continues to be committed to the provision of high quality, NHS based allergy services for patients with allergic disease and related disorders of the immune system. We strive towards this via a pedagogic approach that places an emphasis on training and on standards of care at both the Primary and Secondary level, and through the encouragement of scientific research into allergy and immunology via our journal Clinical and Experimental Allergy and our Conferences, meetings training and awards.

With this in mind, I would like to make a direct and candid appeal for your help. If you have considered leaving money to a charity in your will and if so whether you might consider leaving a legacy to the BSACI. A pledge of your continuing support would safeguard the Society’s aims and help us to plan for the future with confidence.  As a charity, the BSACI receives no money from the government, but relies on the support of our members and sponsors in order to carry out our aims and objectives.

When I joined the BSACI it was a small organisation run by Sue Duff part-time in her spare bedroom – we now have our own office, over 1000 members, an excellent journal and meetings and guidelines which are highly respected worldwide. Our staff now number almost 10 and all are working hard. We need to build on this firm base: making our guidelines compatible with GRADE methodology in order to be included in the quality and outcomes framework, increasing the size of our meetings and maintaining its scientific and clinical validity, whilst continuing to educate trainees and primary care practitioners and helping to support the National Allergy Strategy Group. It may also prove necessary to fund work showing the socio-economic benefits of allergy diagnosis and treatment. In order to accomplish all this, we need to be guaranteed future funding.

Please email [email protected] for more details about leaving a legacy to BSACI. Whatever type of legacy you may decide to leave to the BSACI, so that we can plan more assuredly for the future and thank you for your gift.

Yours sincerely,

Glenis K Scadding, BSACI Past President 2009 -2012
